2011 New Opel Astra Sports Tourer
2011 new Opel Corsa OPC
The powertrain lineup mimics the four-door hatchback's, with a total of eight gasoline and diesel engines. Power ranges from 95 horsepower in the frugal Ecoflex Astra with a 1.3-liter turbo-diesel to 180 horsepower in the 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. A six-speed manual with an upshift indicator is standard with every engine, and a six-speed automatic is available with most. We also expect start-stop technology to become standard across the Astra range.

2011 The Opel Corsa

Europe's much-awaited fuel-efficient small hatch, the Corsa OPC from General Motors' Opel European brand will roll out in markets across the continent anytime this month. The Opel Corsa OPC made its world debut at the 77th annual Geneva International Motor Show early this March and dubbed as the "most powerful Corsa ever". Why? Because it is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine capable of pumping out 192 horsepower (141 kW) and produces 169 pound-feet (230 Nm) amount of peak torque, combine with a six-speed manual gearbox powering its front wheels. Acceleration from zero to 62 mph can be achieved in 7.2 seconds with an electronically controlled top speed of 139 mph. Upgrading with GM power programmer can boost the Corsa OPC's performance.

Important: Remove air filter or hardware from top of carburetor, and use a tool to hold the main throttle plates of the carburetor fully open for the duration of this test. Screw the engine compression gauge, into spark-plug holes, beginning with #1 cylinder. Observe the highest number the gauge reads (the needle jerks upward about 4 times, then levels off), and write it down as the “dry” number for that engine cylinder.
