Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
This sports car was produced by the Italian carmaker Alfa Romeo. In the year 2003, it was first introduced as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In the year 2007, it was released for sale on the market.
The Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione’s twin seater lines are intended to echo the styling of Alfa Romeos from the 1930s and 1940s, giving the car a decidedly retro feel. The name “Competizione” is intended to refer to the 6C 2500 Competizione of the year 1948, which competed twice in the Mille Miglia race and came in third place both times. In the year 2006, at the Mondial de l’Automobile, Alfa Romeo announced that it would be producing a limited series of the 8C Competizione for the following year. The production version, which comes in a series of 500, features a 4.7 liter V8 that is derived from Ferrari Maserati.
Production numbers of the 8C indicate that it is a racing homologation special. In the year 2005, a computer game that was developed in conjunction with Alfa Romeo, Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo, featured two different racing versions of the 8C Competizione. In the year 2008, the 8C Competizione will take part in the 24 Hours of La Mans race.
