2010 Raptor Ford F-150 SVT Review
The Raptor was built around 2006th At that time, when everyone thought it was a little death, SVT, Ford Skunk Works was actually decide to consider as the F-150 to come. The obvious solution would be an SVT Lightning has been resurrected. The High Performance Street van is something of a legend, and probably had plenty of pieces of primary dealers to work quickly, including an engine supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 from their own Shelby GT500. Instead, the SVT engineers decided to do something fresh. and quietly, they hear the dirt.
It was difficult, a yawn at Ford Special Vehicle Team rider Matt Johnson led to remove the new F-150 Raptor SVT through some deep sand, a few meters from a cliff. Behind us, a rooster tail of water hot, dry dust has plastered the assembled photographers. An exciting scene to be sure, but it is all in a day's work for the Raptor, the van, which makes high-speed off-road easy.
"We wanted a van that you could drive down the street and kick with all the pistons in the sand," said Johnson.
For the first part of the mission of the Raptor to illustrate Ford gave us the key example of a bright orange, San Diego and sent us for three hours by automobile on the street Borrego Springs. With transport, highways, and, eventually, winding pass, not the Raptor SVT as nice as the standard F-150 - that is not nice. it is difficult, a bit low (5.4-liter V-8 is transferred from the conventional model) and understeer at the first sign of g-forces. Everything is a bit disappointing until you seem to remember that you're on board that have monster tires as well as a suspension for more travel around - usually the opposite of what you need when you are trying to receive a better grip something. SVT engineers deal with these changes carefully recalibrated steering and special compound BFGoodrich All Terrain T / AS, which quietly on the road, despite its high profile enforcement block punches. they did a nice job, and they has most surprised how well the F-150 could have the guys working on the SVT suspension beginning. More point Ford is the Raptor, a van could live with daily. Add to that the price of $ 38,995 base - could be something less than an F-150 King Ranch - and it is not difficult to see how the Raptors who believe a wilderness adventure is a journey Jones Beach are popular.
