New Generation 2011-2012 Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer was introduced to the North American market place in 1990. The vehicle is built by the Ford Motor Company based out of Detroit Michigan. The Explorer is described as a mid-size sport utility vehicle. It is manufactured in Louisville, Kentucky and has been a bread and butter sales leader for the Ford Motor Company fleet of cars.

For 2011, the car based platforms include the Escape, Edge, Flex and Explorer while the Expedition is the last of the truck derived SUVs. Expect the Expedition to be discontinued within the next year or two as demand for vehicles of its kind remains weak.

Will a SportTrac version of the Ford Explorer be offered? That doesn't appear to be the case, though that question may can only be answered when Ford officially unveils the new Explorer later this year.
